We’re excited to share a new learning output from The Ideas Fund: Bridging Communities and Health Systems.

Building on the insights from Reimagining Research, this interactive resource explores the unexpected ways community-led research can influence health systems and services. Through an interactive map and audio clips drawn from interviews with contributors connected to The Ideas Fund and beyond, it explores how impact emerges through relationships, collaboration and shared learning, rather than through linear or predetermined outcomes.

Contributors describe how community-led research can shape health systems through increased confidence, legitimacy, education, evidence-building and practical tools, as well as through the connections formed between communities and researchers.

Since The Ideas Fund began, one of the unexpected areas of impact has been on health systems. To better understand this influence, we recorded interviews with ten people with varied perspectives on community-led research, including contributors connected to The Ideas Fund and others working in related spaces. This map brings together some of their collective thoughts on the value and impact of communities collaborating with researchers to build evidence, strengthen confidence, support education and training, and influence health systems.
