We’re starting a new project - the Community-Led Research Collaboration - to explore how community-led research can be better supported, resourced, and sustained.

This open call is for Phase One of the programme: a three-month co-design process where a Core Group will come together to shape a testable idea for change. That idea will then move into a second phase - a 6 to 9 month test period - with the potential to influence longer-term models, resources, or approaches that benefit the wider system.

Each participant will receive a grant of £3,000 for their time, plus expenses.

We have some more detailed guidance for people interested in applying, and an online application form. We recommend reading the guidance before applying.

How to apply

You can apply online through our short form, or send us a video, a voice note or arrange a one to one conversation instead. If forms aren’t your thing, let us know and we’ll arrange a chat. Deadline to apply: Monday 13th October 2025, 12 noon

Who should apply?

We’re looking for people who are already involved in community work that gathers knowledge, shares experiences and creates change.

You don’t need to see yourself as a “researcher” or have an academic background, or be part of a university, charity or formally funded project to take part. We’re especially keen to hear from people whose work isn’t usually well resourced or recognised.

You might be:

  • Actively doing community-led research work or have recent and relevant experience of community research.
  • Working to drive change through community-led research, activism, campaigning, policy change, delivery, or care and support.
  • Deeply connected to the issues you work on through lived experience, your practice, or your role in the community.
  • Taking on issues related to inequity and exclusion, where your work faces friction and challenges that limit impact.
  • Wanting to be part of a group and seeking more opportunities to connect, learn, share, collaborate and work collectively.
  • Looking to contribute to better conditions for community-led research, for yourself and others like you.
